This year, West Indies regained their lost dominance in cricket with a three world championship titles. Just yesterday, they won the World T20 Cup where the biggest highlight was Carlos Brathwaite who slammed four smashing sixes when they needed 19 runs in the last over.

Earlier that day, they claimed their first Women’s World Twenty20 champion’s title with a striking eight-wicket win over Australia at Eden Garden, Kolkata.

In February, West Indies had a historical win at the Under-19 World Cup after defeating India by five wickets in Dhaka.

The three victories have brought the Caribbean nation to the crown of world cricket.

A Team that Stood United Against All Odds

However, the West Indies cricket team had some serious issues with their board. After the match, an emotional Darren Sammy – the team’s captain, stated that they were highly demotivated and disrespected by their board and commentator Mark Nicholas who had described the West Indies cricket team as ‘a team with no brains’. But Sammy went on to say that all these things brought the team closer and they could stand stronger to achieve a victorious win.

Well West Indies, you surely have recouped your respect! Although in our little hearts we still mourn that India lost to you in the semis 😉
